The World’s Best-Selling Light Jet, Explained
No light jet has been delivered in greater numbers than the Embraer Phenom 300 for 14 years running. This guide covers what separates the original Phenom 300 from the Phenom 300E and the new 300EV, the specifications that matter for range and cabin comfort, what new and pre-owned aircraft cost, and how it compares with the Citation CJ4 Gen2 and HondaJet Elite II, so you can shop with the same rigour we apply to every acquisition we support.
Quick answer
The Embraer Phenom 300 is a twin-engine light jet in service since December 2009, updated as the Phenom 300E in 2018. The 300E seats 6 passengers in its standard layout (up to 9–10 in dense layouts), cruises at up to 464 knots (the fastest in its class) and flies 2,010 nm with five occupants. It has led light-jet deliveries for 14 consecutive years, with 72 delivered in 2025 and more than 900 in service. List price was about US$ 11.0 million in 2023, though new delivery positions have been quoted above US$ 14 million.
Model evolution
Phenom 300 vs 300E vs the New 300EV
The original Phenom 300 entered service in December 2009. Embraer announced the Phenom 300E (“Enhanced”) in October 2017 and delivered the first in March 2018, with a redesigned cabin and the Garmin G3000-based Prodigy Touch flight deck as standard. Late-production Phenom 300s had already begun receiving Prodigy Touch, so the two versions can overlap. Confirm the avionics generation and interior build against the individual aircraft’s records, not model year alone.
| Version | Milestones | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Phenom 300 | Certified by ANAC 3 Dec 2009; first delivery 29 Dec 2009 | Original Prodigy flight deck (Garmin G1000-based); Prodigy Touch added to later aircraft |
| Phenom 300E | Announced 9 Oct 2017; first delivery 29 Mar 2018 | Redesigned cabin and materials; Prodigy Touch (G3000-based) as standard |
| Phenom 300EV | Unveiled 14 Jul 2026; certified Aug 2026 (reported); deliveries expected from 2028 | Garmin Emergency Autoland, rudder-by-wire controller, range up to 2,055 nm, about 430 lb more payload |
The 300EV is not yet available to take delivery of, but it matters for your timeline: if you are weighing a new-build slot against a well-equipped pre-owned 300E, ask what Autoland and the other upgrades are worth to you.
Buyer’s insight. A “300E” label on a listing does not guarantee the latest avionics software or interior. Ask for the serial number’s equipment list and software configuration, and cross-check it against an aircraft appraisal before agreeing a price.

Inside the aircraft
Cabin, Avionics & Interior Gallery
The cabin is about 17 ft 2 in long, 5 ft 1 in wide and 4 ft 11 in high. Embraer quotes 84 cubic feet of baggage and stowage, of which 66 cubic feet is the rear baggage compartment. The lavatory is enclosed, and can be specified with belted seating for take-off and landing, which lets the aircraft carry more passengers.
Every current Phenom 300E has the Prodigy Touch flight deck, built on Garmin’s G3000. When evaluating an early Phenom 300, confirm whether it has the original G1000-based Prodigy deck or a later Prodigy Touch retrofit, as this affects both usability and resale value.
Buyer’s insight. Seat layout and baggage use vary between aircraft, and heavily customised cabins can reduce usable space. Ask for the actual layout and a photo of each compartment on any aircraft you are evaluating.

Market Position & Sales
Embraer, citing GAMA data presented in February 2026, reports that the Phenom 300 series was the world’s best-selling light jet for the 14th consecutive year and the most-delivered twin-engine jet for the sixth year in a row. A large, long-running fleet helps buyers: parts availability, third-party maintenance support and resale liquidity are generally stronger for a high-volume programme than for a low-volume one.

What to budget
Phenom 300E Price and the Used Market
The published list price for a new Phenom 300E was about US$ 11.0 million in 2023. By mid-2025, however, open delivery positions were being quoted above US$ 14 million, with slots running into 2028, so the price you actually pay for a new aircraft depends on delivery position and options. Pre-owned values step up with age and hours:
| Aircraft | Indicative price | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| New Phenom 300E, published list | ≈ $11.0M | 2023 list price |
| New, open delivery position | Above $14M | Quoted mid-2025; slots into 2028 |
| Phenom 300, 2010–2013 | $6M–$8M | Trading range, mid-2025 |
| Phenom 300E, 2018–2020 | $9.5M–$12M | Trading range, mid-2025 |
| Phenom 300E, 2020 onwards | $12M–$13.5M | Typical transactions, mid-2025; two listings at $13.75M and $14.75M in Sept 2026 |
Asking prices and transaction prices differ, and values move with market conditions. Treat these figures as reference points, not a quote.
Buyer’s insight. Before you make an offer, review comparable listings and consider an independent aircraft appraisal, alongside broader pre-owned aircraft market trends, to confirm you are paying a fair, current price.
The field
Phenom 300E vs Citation CJ4 Gen2 vs HondaJet Elite II
The Phenom 300E’s closest rivals are the Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 and the HondaJet Elite II. The Pilatus PC-24 is often cross-shopped for its unpaved-runway capability, though it is a larger, more utility-focused aircraft.
| Aircraft | Max range | Max speed | New list price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Embraer Phenom 300E | 2,010 nm | 464 kt | ≈ $11.0M (2023) |
| Cessna Citation CJ4 Gen2 | 2,165 nm | 451 kt | ≈ $9.6M |
| HondaJet Elite II | 1,547 nm | 422 kt | ≈ $6.95M |
The Phenom 300E is the fastest of the three and has the larger cabin cross-section (5 ft 1 in wide and 4 ft 11 in high, against 4 ft 8 in square in the CJ4). The CJ4 Gen2 publishes the longer maximum range and a lower price, and the manufacturers state their range assumptions differently, so compare on your own mission. Note too that Textron’s CJ4 Gen3, with Garmin Emergency Autoland, was in flight test in July 2026 with FAA certification expected later this year; that may soften prices of older CJ4s.
Cost of ownership
Phenom 300E Operating Costs
Published operating-cost estimates vary with utilisation, fuel price and the engine programme. One widely used calculator puts total variable costs at roughly US$ 3,000 per flight hour and a total cost of about US$ 4,400 per hour at 450 owner-operated hours a year, with fuel at about US$ 9 per gallon. Owners flying fewer hours spread the fixed costs over fewer hours, so their all-in hourly cost is higher.
The PW535E engines are commonly enrolled in a Pratt & Whitney Canada hourly maintenance programme, which turns overhaul events into a fixed per-hour cost. Confirm enrolment, and what it covers, in your pre-purchase review, together with a full engine records review if the engines are not enrolled. Build your own budget from current quotes rather than relying on a single published figure.

2026 Airworthiness Directive: What Buyers Should Know
Regulatory note. FAA AD 2026-10-18, effective 6 July 2026, applies to Embraer EMB-505 (Phenom 300) airplanes in the affected group; 41 are on the US register. Some aircraft may have invalid horizontal stabiliser backlash test results because incorrect procedures were used, and excessive backlash can cause vibration and reduced controllability. The AD requires inspection and, where needed, replacement of hinge-point and pitch-trim actuator parts. Inspection must be completed within 12 months or 750 flight hours (Group 1) or 24 months or 1,000 flight hours (Group 2) of the effective date. The FAA estimates an inspection at about $1,360 per aircraft and up to about $14,950 if all repairs are needed; warranty may cover part of this.
Pre-purchase checklist

Embraer quotes a maximum range of 2,010 nautical miles at long-range cruise with five occupants (at 200 lb each), NBAA IFR reserves with a 100 nm alternate, ISA conditions and no wind. That covers most transcontinental US routes and many regional international routes without a fuel stop. Range falls with a heavier payload or higher speeds, so confirm the real figure for your route and passenger load.
How does the Phenom 300E compare with the Citation CJ4 Gen2 and HondaJet Elite II?
The Phenom 300E is the fastest of the three, with a 464-knot high-speed cruise against 451 knots for the CJ4 Gen2 and 422 knots for the HondaJet Elite II. The CJ4 Gen2 publishes a longer maximum range (2,165 nm against 2,010 nm), though the manufacturers state their range assumptions differently. The HondaJet Elite II has the shortest range (1,547 nm) and the lowest list price. The Pilatus PC-24 is often cross-shopped for its unpaved-runway ability but is a larger, more utility-focused aircraft.
What is the Phenom 300EV?
The Phenom 300EV (“Evolution”) is Embraer’s next version of the aircraft, unveiled on 14 July 2026. It adds Garmin Emergency Autoland, an Embraer-developed rudder-by-wire controller, an extended range of up to 2,055 nm, about 430 lb of extra payload and line-fit satellite connectivity. It was reported as certified by ANAC, EASA and the FAA in August 2026, with deliveries expected to begin in 2028.

FAA AD 2026-10-18, effective 6 July 2026, applies to Embraer EMB-505 (Phenom 300) airplanes in the affected group, 41 of which are on the US register. Some aircraft may have invalid horizontal stabiliser backlash test results because incorrect procedures were used. The AD requires an inspection and, where needed, replacement of hinge-point and pitch-trim actuator parts, within 12 months or 750 flight hours (Group 1) or 24 months or 1,000 flight hours (Group 2). Confirm compliance against the aircraft’s maintenance records and the FAA’s AD database.
How many passengers and how much baggage does the Phenom 300E carry?
The standard layout seats 6 passengers with one or two pilots. Embraer offers layouts for up to 9 or 10 passengers using a seventh seat, a two-place divan or a belted lavatory, with a maximum of 11 occupants. Total baggage and stowage volume is 84 cubic feet, of which 66 cubic feet is the rear baggage compartment.
